Travis Garner is the Lead Pastor at The Village Church. Travis has been a leader in ministry for over twenty years, leading teams in Student Ministry, Discipleship, Kids Ministry, and Missions before leading a team to start The Village Church in 2016.
Travis married his college sweetheart Amanda in 2003, and they have three boys - Pax, Asher, and Jude. Travis loves people, loves having fun, and loves the epic adventures of going on cross-country road trips with a minivan, a tent, and his family.
When it comes to his approach to the Bible and the Church, Travis loves making the stories about Jesus come alive through his energy, his sense of humor, and his ability to make the Bible relatable, accessible, and connected to real life.
In his downtime, Travis drinks entirely too much coffee and eats more peanut butter than is good for the average human. He loves exploring the best local restaurants (which is also why he tries to exercise a good bit), reading a good book, listening to good music, and sometimes trying his best to play it. He also cheers really loudly (and sometimes non-pastorally) for the Fighting Illini, the Cubs, and the Green Bay Packers.

Our Lead Team
The Village Lead Team is made up of 9 to 15 passionate followers of Jesus from within the church who are responsible for prayerfully discerning and guiding the overall mission and direction of the church. Members of the Lead Team are selected each year based on the New Testament’s description of the character and qualifications of leaders in the church. They must be deeply committed to the mission of the church and to daily prayer, weekly worship engagement, generosity, and regular service within the church. Members of the Lead Team commit to serve a 3-year term on a rotational basis.
