Who We Support
The Village Church supports amazing ministries who are changing lives with the love of Jesus in our community and around the world.
As we choose are ministry partners, we are inspired by Jesus’ words in Matthew 25:35-40
’For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me…Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
HARVEST HANDS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Harvest Hands is a catalyst for Christ-centered, holistic community development in South Nashville. Their after-school programs, job/leadership training programs, and youth sports teams are having a huge impact in the lives of young people in our community.
The Village supports Harvest Hands by purchasing all our coffee for Sunday mornings and Coffee & Connect from Humphrey Street Coffee, by investing in them with our Christmas offering, and through donating supplies and volunteer time during GoServe Summer.
COSECHA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Cosecha exists to gather neighbors together to foster community along the Nolensville Pike corridor of South Nashville. Together with neighbors and local schools, they’re nurturing vibrant school gardens that serve as thriving centers for education, neighborhood gatherings, and access to healthy and locally grown food. Their language school helps to facilitate learning of new languages, while also bringing greater cultural understanding and linguistic justice to their neighborhoods. In addition, their community market brings fresh produce to the neighborhood, while also giving local entrepreneurs a place to sell their goods and connect with neighbors.
The Village supports Cosecha financially each month, and also through donating supplies and volunteer time during GoServe Summer each year.
MEN OF VALOR
Men of Valor reaches men in local prisons with the gospel of Jesus. Through their incredible aftercare and re-entry program, they love, encourage, counsel, disciple, and equip men to re-enter society. The men who graduate from the Men of Valor aftercare programs have a passion to follow Jesus, steady jobs, healed hearts, and the ability to live lives of integrity that improve the communities in which they live. Nationwide, 70% of men who are released from prison find themselves back in prison within 3 years, but Men of Valor is changing that statistic in Tennessee.
The Village provides monthly financial support to Men of Valor, and also welcomes current MOV participants and MOV graduates into our church community.
ART HELPS CANCER
Art Helps Cancer walks alongside individuals and families fighting cancer, loving and supporting them. The AHC team sends 50+ cards of encouragement to patients each month, as well as providing prayer support, care packages, house cleaning, lawn care, phone calls, and other support that shows the love of Jesus to them in tangible ways.
The Village Church supports Art Helps Cancer financially each month. We also support them by having Village Groups, Village Youth, and other ministry teams assist in writing encouraging notes. In addition, a volunteer team writes notes and packs care packages each year during GoServe Summer.
SILOAM HEALTH
Siloam Health’s mission is to share the love of Christ by serving those in need through health care. They offer exceptional, whole-person health care for the uninsured, underserved, and culturally marginalized in Middle Tennessee. They also offer community health services, medical student training, and a support program for newly arrived refugee families.
The Village provides monthly financial support to Siloam Health, and also encourages their clinic staff throughout the year through lunches and other treats.
FEED SOUTH NASHVILLE PARTNERSHIPS
On the first and third Saturday of the month, The Village helps provide food (and volunteers!) for the mobile food pantry at Tusculum Elementary.
The Village also provides food and volunteers for the backpack feeding programs at Shayne Elementary and Norman Binkley Elementary.
Each December, The Village gathers for GoServe Christmas. We pack and deliver boxes full of pantry essentials to several hundred families from our partner schools with food insecurity. These boxes help sustain families over the winter break from school (without the free breakfasts and lunches provided there).
We’re passionate about helping students who are living with food insecurity and showing them the love of Jesus by helping meet this need.
LOCAL SCHOOL PARTNERSHIPS
The Village Church seeks to be an encouragement to the administrators, teachers, and families in our local schools. Throughout the year, we provide staff encouragement in the form of coffee breaks, lunches, small gifts, and encouraging notes.
During GoServe Summer each year, we complete projects in our local schools, such as painting, decorating, and landscaping. Our teams of volunteers arrive with all their supplies (purchased by The Village) and bring joy and encouragement to these local school partners: Croft Middle, Norman Binkley Elementary, AZ Kelley Elementary, Thurgood Marshall Middle, Shayne Elementary, Oliver Middle, Stewartsboro Elementary, and Tusculum Elementary.
WATER4
Together with local missional African businesses, Water4 fights for safe and living water today and growing economic potential for tomorrow. Their goal is to bring safe piped water to every home, school, community – everywhere.
They seek to integrate the good news of Jesus into all they do as they foster sustainably and entrepreneurship, empowering people every step of the way.
Their Multiply discipleship movement is spreading exponentially throughout the regions where they work, with thousands gathering weekly for Bible studies, drawn into life with Jesus through the testimony of Water4.
For seven years, The Village has given our entire Easter offering to Water4, which has totaled more than $350,000!
ABTS IN LEBANON
Founded in 1960 in the hills overlooking Beirut, Lebanon, the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary (ABTS) equips local servant-leaders for the ministry challenges arising in the Middle East and North Africa – be it theology, apologetics, communication, pastoral care, ethics, society, or culture.
Their vision is to see God glorified, people reconciled, and communities restored through the Church in the Arab world. They are called to serve the Church in their region as it realizes its Biblical mission of having Christ acknowledged as Lord. They do this through exceptional theological training in Arabic and English, as well as leadership formation—equipping faithful men and women for effective service.
The Village sponsors student scholarships at ABTS.
Additional Community Support
We love being an active member of our community. The Village has sponsored the Kids’ Zone at the Nolensville Broken Wheel Festival, as well as a booth at the Nolensville Buttercup Festival. It’s always as blast to get to spend time with our neighbors in this way!
We are a church for the community, and we love serving in partnership with local schools, local non-profits, and others who are working to make life better for our neighbors in Nolensville, Cane Ridge, Smyrna, South Nashville, and Lenox Village.
